Roser Golla Rosogolla
Rosogolla is one of favorite sweet of all over India. It is made with an Indian cottage cheese mixing with semolina dough, after that making small balls and put these on hot bubbling sugar syrup until they are floating. The people from West Bengal use to take this particular sweet to their relatives houses or any occupational purpose.... This sweet is also very famous in Odisha also. There it has been served as "bhog" to Laxmi Mata at Jagannath Temple, Puri.....
In the year 1868, Nobin Chandra Das introduced the new sweet to people. he made it with "chhena" Indian cottage cheese mixing with semolina dough, then making small balls of this and put this on hot bubbling sugar syrup until they are floating in Sutanuti (Present Day Baghbazar), West Bengal. There is yet another theory says, Rosogolla invented by a man named Bhaja Moira two years before Nobin Chandra Das, in his shop near Calcutta high court. Later it became famous when a Marwari business man Bhagwandas Bangla, a customer of Nobin Chandra Das popularized this sweet in locality shops by ordering huge amount. There is another theory of Rosogolla, claimed by Odisha is, according to historian this sweet is first invented in Puri as "Khira Mohana" and it has been serving to Goddess laxmi Mata at Jagannath Temple. According to local mythology experts, goddess Laxmi get upset on her husband Lord Jagannath goes on nine days "Sojourn" (The Rathyatra) without her willingness. So, she locks Jai Vijaya Dwar ,one of the gates of Temple and prevent him to re-enter in The Temple. To indulge her, Jagannath served her Rosogolla, which is known as "khira Mohana". This ritual is known as "Bachanika" is part of "Niladri Bije" (Arrival of God) defines, the prove of returning to Temple from Rathyata.
Now a days rosogolla becomes so famous that it is now available in various form like "Gurer Rosogolla","Baked Rosogolla"and many more varieties. Recently A woman named Swati Saraf, she makes rosogolla in 200 flavors. Also there is also many sweet shops, who took initiative on experimenting on this sweet and making it more popular among sweet lovers.
